An Unexpected Adventure

So I am still doing online school and I hope all of you are staying home and staying safe! But anyways this week for writing we had to choose a prompt from the slideshow that Ms Wilton made for us and there were 10 different prompts and the first one was An Ice Plunge, the second one was under the bed and the third one was Expecto Patronum. The fourth one was on the prowl, the fifth one was Homecoming and the sixth one was The Beginning, the Seventh one was An Unexpected Adventure and the eighth one was Mr Wolf, the ninth one was Hanging on and lastly the tenth one was also called Hanging on apparently but yeah!

So we had to choose one of those prompts and I decided to choose the seventh one which is the Unexpected adventure cause I found it really interesting and there was a story starter and we had to use the story started in our story and their were lots of activities we had to do for our writing as well and then we used to learn these languages features so we had to include them in our writing so here is my story and all the activities that I had to do for my prompt:
Red - Alliteration
Blue - Onomatopoeia
Orange - Metaphor
Green - Hyperbole
Yellow - Personification
Brown - Simile
Pink - Idiom

She knew that it hadn’t been a good idea to leave the tap running, but now she was starting to enjoy
herself. Then suddenly the next moment she would blink her eyes there was a big hole!
All the water just started draining into the hole like a Human sucking so much food! Even the shower,
bathtub, toilet and like everything in the bathroom!

“Woah” Emily said! “Where am I”? “It’s so dark in here I can’t see a thing!,
Maybe it’s just my eyesight or I don't even know!” “But I need to get back to my house otherwise my
Parents are going to worry”! I felt the darkness suck me in the air!  “Wait, I just forgot their on Vacation,
well at least it gets me more time to get out of here cause I don’t want to stay here forever!” So as
Emily
kept walking to a direction she found a hidden tunnel or should I say sewer that led to the sea! She
decided to get something from her pocket called a Golden apple that can give you a ride under sea
with a bathtub! You know what they say the early human gets a bath!

And as she slowly, sluggishly, swam with a stinky shark to the sea and she could see her dreams come
true. She saw all the different animals and then splash all she could think about was living there
but the ride was like millions of miles… 10 years later… So after those years she knew she got her
dream in the winners bag and she lived under the sea with all of her friends happily ever after!
But where are her parents…..

The Different Activities:

The Questions:
My Answer:
Where did her Journey begin?
Emily left the tap on and then when she came
back into the bathroom the whole room was
flooded and it even made a big hole!!!!
Why was it unexpected?
Because she didn’t really know what was
going to happen and then a big hole
happened and she forgot to turn the
tap off so it was just a big mess.
Where will she go on her adventure?
Well she goes and sees her dream come
true and she never knew that it would happen
especially like this way and she loves to see
animals and she always wanted to live under
the sea!
What things will she encounter?
Her dream is living under water and even
seeing animals and living the best time of her
life but the only thing she doesn't know is if
she will see her parents ever again.
How will she get back home?
Her animal friends can take her back
safely at her house door and her parents
won’t be worried anymore because they
finally found their daughter.
How might she be feeling in the adventure?
Very happy and worried and also sad at the
same time cause she would feel happy cause
her Dream has come true. Worried because
she doesn't know what her parents would
think and sad cause she would miss her
family!
What will her Parents be thinking?
They would probably be very worried and
they would go looking for her until they find
her!
Would you like to go on an adventure like this? If you do please explain.
I don’t really want to, to be honest because
I would be very scared and I don’t want to
go all the way under sea and I would miss
my Family.

ANZAC Activities

Right now I am at home doing my online school and I know most of you could be doing some online school now cause there is just so many things happening in the world right now so stay home and stay safe, keep washing your hands and don't touch your face! But besides the negative side lets move on to the positive side which is my work! So this week for Reading we had to read and listen to a passage about the Anzac's First World War Memorials. And we also had to read another three passages and one was about the Memorials and there was also a video about their like message to those who died and the last passage was about us to learn more about the red Poppy and then after we had to make a DLO about all these activities and there were 8 activities that we had to complete.

It did take me quite a while to do the activities but I finally got there! Ms Wilton told us to post only two of the activities but we still needed to do all of them! So I chose to post Activity 4 which is we had to list 10 consequences what would happen if we had no war so here are my reasons:
The next and last one I wanted to post was Activity 6 which was we had to make a DLO about what we have learnt so we has to like to a survey and graph of what I've learnt so basically I ask myself questions then answer them so here it is:

Something I enjoyed was finding really good facts about ANZAC Day!
Something I found difficult was thinking of different ways I could present My DLO's cause I just like wanted to do something different but it ended up like this but thats all goods!

Maori Words

So this week for R.E we talked about the different languages that we can use to call someone or explain it to some one and we also had to think about how Jesus was these different words. The different Maori words were Te Whanau, Matamua, Tuakana, Te Karaiti, Whaea, Matua, Tupuna, Kuia and Kaummatua. We had to discover what they meant and so we got a littke help from google! The hardest one that I couldn't really find was Te Karaiti but then I went on to the Maori Dictionary and I finally found it after like a few minutes. We had to make a DLO about those different words and I decided to make a powtoon cause I feel like it would be way easier. Ms Wilton told us to use SISOMO which is Sight, Sound and Motion and we had to include that in our DLO so I screencastified it as well so people can here me.

So here is my DLO:

Something I found Difficult was searching up the words.

What I found easy was making my actual DLO.

The Different Roles

So I think that most of you have noticed that I have been posting a lot lately well that is because I have been doing so much work lately and I just can't stop posting my work cause I really do love posting my Work on my blog to teach you guys and maybe to learn from you guys as well and so I can improve in my next activity! Anyways this week for R.E we learned about Jesus' Matamua and His Tuakana and if you don't know what either of those words mean then you have come to the right place cause I'm about to tell you what they mean. So Matamua means like the first born child in your family and Tuakana means little Brother or Sister. So those are the meaning of those words and we talked about Jesus' Matamua and His Tuakana!

After talking about Jesus' Matamua and Tuakana we talked about the different Roles that they might have like our own Matamua and Tuakana. So we had to make a DLO about Our own Roles, Our Parents/Caregivers Roles and our Matamua and Tuakana's Roles. So I have Parents and Myself and also Tuakanas and we also had to do it for like a Daily life so here are the different Roles:

>

Something I enjoyed was thinking about what we would actually do and thinking about how each of us could improve.

Something I found difficult was trying to think of how to set it out cause I found it really hard but then I found out of what I could do!

Teaching My Strategy

WALT Problems ? + 29 = 81.

So this week we also didn't have any Maths work to do and so we also have to do another DLO about the Strategy we learned last week. And I decided to just do a Slideshow cause it's nice and simple and easy to show my Strategy. My Strategy is about working out what the unknown number is and trying to understand how to use the strategy and so if you want to solve something like ? + 29 = 81, and so how you need to solve this is to use a number line and this is going to be good for those who don't know how to solve things like this then keep reading and if you do then goof job on you.

So how you solve this type of question is using a number line and there will be some adding and some Minus going on with this strategy. If your only going to be using adding then the first number from the ones column needs to be lower then what the answer is in the ones column as well like this: ? + 23 = 58 So that's when you use addition. When you want to use Minus then the first number in the ones column has to be over than the answer in the ones column.

But anyways here is my DLO to teach more about my Strategy:

Something that I enjoyed was drawing the number line cause I actually kind alike teaching people and now I like teaching them how to use a number line!

Something I found difficult was not really anything because I had my strategy in my Maths book to help me out so that was fine!

Stay tuned for more Maths work!

My Mascot

WALT think critically when looking at information in different texts.

So this week for Reading we didn't have any Reading activities to do cause Ms Wilton forgot to put some activities and so we had to do an ANZAC Activity and I know you might have noticed that there has been a lot post from me with ANZAC Things and so I hope your okay with that because I find these facts really interesting. But anyways besides from that we had to read 4 texts about the ANZAC Mascots and speaking of Mascots then you have come to the right place cause I'm just about to tell you what ANZAC Mascots are and what are some jobs that some of the Mascots did in World War one and two. Wait I just forgot we had to make a DLO about what we have learnt from those 4 texts and after we could make our own Mascot which I thought was pretty cool! But I guess I could give you some more information about Mascots so here it goes.

In World War One and Two there were at least 20+ Mascots in each of the wars and you might know some of these Mascots but here are some that I know. Murphy the Donkey and he helped the wounded to get to Safety and Ceaser the Red Cross Dog and he helped the soldiers to feel better so they can battle again! That's all I'm going to tell you for now because my DLO has much more information and I fitted it all in one, I guess slide but I don't know cause I used piktochart. Anyways here is my DLO about what I have learnt about Mascots:
And here is my Mascot that I created and there is some more information on my Mascot and why and how I created it:
So that is my ANZAC Mascot!

Something I enjoyed was making the Mascot and explaining how and why I did it!

Something I found difficult was trying to think of what to make but then I got an idea from one of my friends and I'm glad I got onto this!

Stay tuned for more work!

Saint Maximilian Kolbe

WALT recognize how Jesus' Work of bring God's saving Love cause him to suffer and die.

So this week for Religious education we had to watched a Video of a Man named Saint Maximilian Kolbe and read a passage of another Man named Father Francis Douglas. Then we had to watch the video or read the passage cause the next activity we were going to do was to make a DLO about either one of those two people which were Saint Maximilian Kolbe or Father Francis Douglas. And so I decided to watch the video and the music in the video but then when I checked the Video I couldn't go on it which was a problem but then I went on the passage and this time it was a Passage of St Maximilian Kolbe Not a passage of Father Francis Douglas so that was really weird and then we told Ms Wilton and she said we can just go on the mat and watch the video on the TV and it worked for her for some reason but not for the students which was weird but we watched it and it was very interesting about the all the facts that were in there.

and so now that I watched the video and the passage I learned a lot and so now we had to include some information in a DLO about Saint Maximilian Kolbe. and we had to include I think 4 questions and they were: Who was he? What was his cause? Who did he upset and why? How did his work of love lead him to death? And so I used this app called Voki and you have a Character that can speak for you and so Here is the Information I have added:

But I couldn't add all of my information because the doc said in could only have 600 characters and I had way more so I also made a Piktochart with all of the information so here are some screenshots of it:

Something I enjoyed was trying out a new tool I can use instead of using my voice!

Something I found difficult was trying to remember the information cause I had to keep going back and forth on the passage.

So that is what we did for Religious education for this week Thank you for your time and keep waiting for some more work!

Nutrition Meals

So Last week a girl named Sophie, from the Heart Foundation Company taught us about what foods are healthy and what foods are not healthy. And so we learnt o lot of things on that Day and Sophie told us there was going to be three sessions so on Monday was the first, Tuesday the second and Wednesday the third and then on Thursday we walked to Paknsave and we got splitted into some groups. And in my group was Me Denise, Celine, Tweeny and Talia. And each team had to have a adult with them to go around Paknsave and help us and our one was Sophie! I was actually really happy that y team got to have Sophie cause she was the one who actually taught us all of these different things and I was really glad! Then Sophie gave us these sheets and in one page it had two columns and one column said everyday foods and the other said sometimes food. And it also said Breads, Milk, Snack and I'm pretty sure Nut Bars and we needed to check on each packet what the fat, Sugar, Energy, Fiber and Sodium/Salt.

And about all of those things like the fat and etc. And we have to look at the 100g per serving column. And in my google drawing that I am going to show you soon about all the different things you need to check so you know it is an everyday food or a sometimes food.  Then the next day we started planning in groups of what we want to have as a Healthy Shared Lunch for our class and we had a minimum of 60$ That is a lot of money but you have to spend it wisely and so my group decided to have fruit salad but the class didn't pick our meal but it was okay because the shared lunch we had was so yummy! We had chicken some fruit and rice it was so good!

And so the next week we had to make a DLO of what we learned so here is mine:

Something I found difficult was trying to make the table cause I needed to remember the different things that needs to me on an everyday food.
Something I found easy was actually making this poster cause I just had to say what I learned and stuff so everyone who is reading this right now I can help with their Nutrition foods!

Stay Healthy!

Descriptive Writing

WALT use descriptive writing.

So this week for writing we had to write a descriptive writing about the Anzac Violin. And so the first thing we had to do is read a story about the Anzac Violin and the story was about a boy named Alexander Aitken and he was in high school in Otago and he was a soldier who was fighting in world war one. On the way after all of his crew members got off the ship they started climbing this big Mountain and Alexander brang one special thing with him and that was his Violin that he brang with him everywhere because whenever his crew members are sad he plays a song on his Violin, it's like one of his favorite things to do and he is also very good at playing the Violin as well. And so the next day was the day when they were going to fight!

As they kept fighting in a moment that everyone wished that never happen and someone in the other country shooted Alexander and he was laying near his other crew members painfully and wounded but a wee while after a ship came and it had a plus sign on it which means the doctors were there to help them, but one thing the Alexander really wanted to help was his Violin... A few years later a package came into Alexander's door step and he opened the package and it was his Violin! He was very happy to see it again and that is where the story ended.

So yes that is a little summary about the story we read and so we had to write a diary entry about if we were Alexander right there in that moment when he got shot and so here is my Diary entry:
As I creep sluggishly throughout the open side path and while my perception is fading away, I still try to make my body secure. The breezy air pasts through me casually as I struggle to get through fatal crew members and even members of the enime. As I see my doom coming I think “what should I do next”? So I just let the supportive doctors take responsibility of Me. As I close my eyes I see darkness coming in slowly and slowly…..

“Where am I going”? I exclaimed. I couldn’t sense my body, I calmly opened my eyes and I saw a tremendous boat! And it had the plus sign on it saw I knew straight away that the doctors were taking me straight away to the stunning hospital! So while I’m on the ship I think about something that is very important to me and I value everyday. That's right! It’s my Violin! I need to go back but I can’t cause I can’t find it anymore but hopefully I will see it one day again!

As the doctors take me out visiosly out of the ship I wait for me to get better and to get healed so I can search for my violin again. But as the years passed on and I was healed something came from the mail, I had no idea what it was but it was a sizable package it was shaped like something that I was going to look for but I couldn’t for the past few years so what could it be?

I opened the package very slowly like a slow snail in a race but this wasn’t any type of race because in the package was…. My Violin! There was a letter that came with it and it said “We have found your Violin in the battlegrounds and since it was really badly damaged we wanted to give you a hand and make it flesh just for you”!

Something I enjoyed was reading the book cause I found it really interesting.
Something I found difficult was trying to think of some cool words to put in cause I wanted my Diary entry to sound interesting!

I am going to be posting some more Descriptive writing so stay tuned!
