Market Day Reflection

I bet most of you know about what St Bernadette's School did last Friday, if you guessed we had a Market Day your correct! Each class had to sell something and my class (Room 5) We selled Waffles, Pie face, Briquettes, Wet Sponges, Spiders and lastly Mrs Lee's lolly jar!  Now lets talk about what I did at Market day:

So since I was in the Choir I had to come back at 12:30PM. Then we went to go and do some silent reading in the staff room cause we needed to ready some stuff and everything just gets boring-er and boring-er, but wait... After we started to set up some stuff we started Market Day! Not a lot of people came but Mr Norman did and he got smacked really hard and he started to bleed! I felt sorry but it was pretty funny. After a wee while two of our group member went to go and look around and then they came back and so me and my other group mate went to go and look around and I saw my brother and he wanted to go and get his hair, hair sprayed and so that's what I went to do. 

I didn't buy anything because I didn't have any more money left so then I went back to the stall with Ella, and then I saw one of my teammate was smacking someone with the pie face and it was really funny cause all the whip cream went everywhere.  But then the bell rang and so it was time for me to go home, but then my brother wanted lemonade from his class (Room 1). So we went to get some lemonade and then went home.

So that's what I did on Market day just some simple things and I didn't get to see what some of the other classes made but it's fine!

How Room 5 shows Respect

This week for Writing we had to make a Biteable about How Room 5 can show Respect to Teachers, Property and others. And if you don't know what Biteable is that is a DLO tool you can use to make a video like powtoon and Animaker. I found Biteable really easy actually cause all you have to do is pick a scene and then write what we need to say and we can choose a font as well, the audio and all the different stuff like that. But first we had to to go on a google doc and write down the three different things we need to add in our video. So that's what we did.

Something I enjoyed was actually playing around with the tool cause I found really easy and fun!
Something I found difficult was trying to download it cause it was the first time I ever used it so I needed some help but I got it in the end!

The Big Jump! W9 I Synthesis Work

For our last week for reading each group is reading a fiction book, and Danny (my group) is reading a fiction book called The Big Jump and there is a boy called Tim and his class went to camp and one of the last activities they had to do on camp was to go on the flying fox and it was really high and pretty long. But anyways let's not get off track. There was another boy called the Big Daddy but his actual name is Charlie, but only his teachers call him Charlie everyone else has to call him Big Daddy because he is the toughest boy and strongest boy in school, and he is not scared of anything but when he went to see the flying fox and he was terrified but he didn't say that because he didn't want to be embarrassed.

Anyways besides that I'm not going to tell you more because for our Synthesis work we had make a scary flying fox so here is mine:

Come Join the Summer Learning Journey Program!

This week for the SLJ work before it starts on December the 16th, Emma said that we have to make s poster or like an advertisement that can make people come a join the summer learning journey program! And so she said we could use anything like a Slide, Canva or like just a google drawing. And we had to include 5 facts about the Summer Learning Journey program.

Market Day!

On Friday we are holding a Market day at St Bernadette's! Each class will be selling some things like for example Room 1 is going to be selling some Lemonade, I know that cause my brothers told me, and I don't really know what the other classes are going to be selling but I know what my class is going to be selling, we're going to be selling Spiders and that is when they have like a cup and we're going to be filling the cup half full with fizzy drinks and then like a scoop of ice cream on top, we're also going to be selling waffles, and Mrs Lee is going to be getting a whole jar of lollies and you have to guess how much lollies are in the jar and if you get it right you get the whole jar! We will also be selling some pie face stuff and there will be 2 different types of pie face stuff and we will get onto that soon. And we're going to be selling Briquettes and we have been making this since last term and its like something to put in your  and it's made out of paper with pine needles in some of them. The last thing we are going to be selling is wet sponges and that is when one of the kiwi can leaders will stand up and you have to pay to get a throw at the kiwi can leaders with obviously wet sponges.

So those were all the things that my class (Room 5) will be selling. Market day starts at 2:00PM to 4:00PM. But anyways we will also be having a Mufti day on Market day, and you also have to bring a gold coin so we can get in some more money for the kapa haka uniforms. And the money we get after Market Day we're going to use as a class treat for the end of the year. Anyways in Room 5 we got into groups and making posters for each thing we are going to sell, in my group was Ella, Jorja, Zipporah and Me. We had to make individual posters, and we were doing posters about pie face, so Ella and Jorja made the pie face game poster and me and Zipporah made the whip and nae pie face poster so here is mine:

My Resolution for Christmas


This week for RE we are looking at Mary and Mrs Lee read out two bible verses out and the first one was about an Angel telling Mary that she is going to give birth to baby Jesus, and the second was about everyone gathering up to meet Jesus and Mary and Jesus' brothers were waiting to talk to him but Jesus said “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” 

 We had to think of a resolution's for Christmas, and so we thought about it and we could choose a verse from the bible or make our own resolution. I chose to choose a verse, it was a very short one but very meaningful so here is mine:

SLJ Practise Work

Today for Summer learning Journey Emma told us to go into the teaser week tab and it came up with a bunch of activities and so Emma told us to do one of those activities just to practice for the real game.  And so  I chose the first one and it was a bout a popular singer Lorde and so we have to make like a profile page of her including 5 interesting facts. Here is mine:

My Diamante Poem

This week for writing we got to choose a different type of writing like a poem, Persuasive writing or like Descriptive and all the different types. And I chose to write a poem but not just any type of Poem, a.... I bet you guys know what type of poem this is, your right! A Diamante poem! If you don't know what a Diamante poem is well you've came to the right place! A Diamante poem has 7 lines and the first line is your topic then the second line will have 2 adjectives about that topic and the third line will have three -ing words like playing for example. The fourth line will have like a short phrase that has four words about the topic as well as the 2nd and 3rd line, on the fifth line you would have three -ing words about the second topic that relates to your first topic and then your 6th line would have two words that are adjectives about the second topic, and then your last line would be your second topic.

Ewes for me W8 l Synthesis Work

WALT combine prior and new knowledge to come up with new ideas.

This week for reading Danny (My Group) we read a non-fiction Article and it was about a boy who had this condition called cerebral palsy, and this condition means that he can't swallow food so he can like only eat liquid stuff and that is poured into a tube that can just go straight to his stomach. But he has a more bigger problem he is allergic to a lot of different types of foods, and he is also very allergic to milk but the only mild he is allowed to drink is sheep milk and so his Mum and Dad keeps herd of fifteen sheeps just for this little boy who is allergic to other milk except sheep milk, the sheeps that his family keeps are Friesians. They are a little bit bigger than other sheeps, and they don't really produce that much milk every year and so the mild that the boy doesn't use they put it in the freezer, and theses sheeps are famous for giving birth to twins and triplets.

But anyways this week for our synthesis work we had to make our own improved milk shed so here is mine:

The true story of Hansel and Gretel....

Last week on Friday the seniors of St Bernadette's got to go on a school trip for the Hansel and Gretel show. There was also some other schools as well that came to see the show of Hansel and Gretel. Our school was sitting at the top but like closest to the bottom, I don't know if I explained that right so please tell me if I'm wrong or right in the comments! But anyways, first we were at school and then after Morning tea I think we got on the bus and I sat with Mya and all we did was like talk about stuff and we did this thing called Boom, snap, clap and yeah it was really fun, then we got off the bus and we saw some other schools sitting on the grass, and then Mrs Lee told us to sit in the grass as well with the other schools. I didn't really like sitting on the grass because it was like really, really, really hot! 

Then few minutes past and we finally stood up and started walking to the Auditorium where they played the Hansel and Gretel show! While we were walking we had to stop a few times cause it would either be stopped because some schools are walking past, or some other strangers might be walking past or some of the people in our school are being silly and I don't mean it in a funny way I mean it as being Naughty! Then we finally made it and we still have to wait for 10-15 minutes cause other schools went  in first before us. As we stepped inside it was big but not until we actually got into the actual Auditorium, cause that was even bigger!

We got in our seats and waited for a bit then it finally started, they introduced the characters and then turned off the lights and began the show, we only got see the second act to Hansel and Gretel but it was really good. I almost fell asleep! But yeah, now for this week for writing we gotted to write our own twist of Hansel and Gretel! So here is the true story of Hansel and Gretel:

The true story of Hansel and Gretel…

“What just happened!” Gretel Shouted.
“I don’t know what we did wrong” Hansel exclaimed.
“Maybe we were eating all of the food, I mean our step Mum did love food”
“Maybe it was, but I’m still hungry”
“Same”
“Maybe instead of going back to that rusty and old and poor looking house maybe we should find a
more fancy one of
our own”
“But how about food, how are we going to get food!”
“Don’t worry cause we’re just getting started!”

So Hansel and Gretel were on their way to get some food first, suddenly they saw something in the
distance of the forest so they went to check what this Mystery thing in the distance could be.
Once they reached their destination they saw what it was, and it was a house made out of lots of
different types of candy, their was gingerbread, lollipops, gummy bears and you name a candy it’s on
their. Hansel and Gretel heard some big and loud stomps coming from the back of the candy house
was a scary and heroundes witch that had a lollipop dress and a cane that was and actually candy cane!
The witch suddenly said “Come in, come in if your hungry I got lots of candies for you to eat”,
“Of course we would love too” Hansel and Gretel said in sync. So the three stepped inside and it was
like a dream to them so Hansel and Gretel started to actually eat the whole house. They ate the couch,
the tv and even the roof and everything, but as the two were about to eat their next big bite they heard
a cackle coming from their left and they saw a house made out of potato and meat. 

They quickly ran to their left and knocked on the door and then another scary and heroundes witch
opened the door and they ran straight in and ate everything just like they did on the candy house,
the witch didn’t have time to make a welcoming! So the witch stopped Hansel and Gretel and told them
that they are welcomed to eat some of her food in the kitchen, but Hansel and Gretel just started to
keep on eating the witch's house, at least the witch made a welcoming, but still Hansel and Gretel
nearly ate the whole entire house but then they heard another cackle from another witch coming
from their left again! So Hansel made a big hole in the Potato and Meat house and went straight
to the house on their left and this time it was a Vegetable and fruit house. 

But this time they knocked and they letted the scary heroundes witch to her welcoming or maybe
his welcoming but we’re not going to get on to that bit of the story, the witch said
“Welcome to my healthy household! You are welcomed to eat anything
you want from the fridge and pantry!” But Hansel and Gretel just ran into the house just like they did in
the other last two houses they’ve been in and even though this house was made out of Vegetables and
fruit they just loved food so much they would eat Vegetables and fruits! Until they finished the whole
house! They went back to the other two and finished those two houses as well. After Hansel and Gretel
were so full they couldn’t eat anymore so they laid down in front of the three houses and went to sleep!
But meanwhile the three witches were so mad that the three witches came together to make a plan that
would destroy Hansel and Gretel! 

“Wait, are you guys thinking what I’m thinking!” Candy Witch said.
“I think so”
So the three witches made their plan and their plan was to trap them in a cage and then give them a
potion that would make them work against each other, and they thought it would be the perfect time
now because they’re both sleeping like their dead. After a wee while, the witches were ready, they
put them in chains and in like a tall house but one person can only fit in it. They separated them
because they knew they would find a way out. Minutes past and suddenly Hansel and Gretel
started to wake up and so the the Candy Witch and the Vegefruit witch gave both of them the potions
and when Hansel and Gretel opened their eyes and started to fight open the cage so they could fight
each other, and I bet you’ll know what the witches did, your right! They opened the cage so they could
fight. The witches said “Now this is going to be could” And after they said that they started to cackle like
Maniacs.

Meanwhile, Hansel and Gretel was still fighting, and then the witches saw a really hot oven and
they screamed out “Come on Hansel push Gretel in the oven!” And that’s what Hansel did, but then
suddenly Hansel and Gretel quickly ran to the three witches and shoved them into the oven instead!
“Woah, did we just do that!” Hansel shouted.
“I think so, but how did we not fall for their potion.”
“Well maybe I secretly spitted it out”
“Maybe I did too” Gretal said while laughing.
But now they didn’t know what to do, but suddenly they heard footsteps coming closer and closer,
but it wasn’t another witch it was their father! Hansel and Gretel were so relieved that their Father
had come to take them back home!

After a few hours later when they got back home their step Mum was gone, and so the
Father explained what had happened. I’m not going to tell you that cause that’s another whole
different story. But that’s the true story of Hansel and Gretel!

The End!

Heather the Weather Girl W7 Sythesis

This week for reading we got another fiction story and it's about a girl called Heather and she got struck by lightening and so every time there would be Thunder and Lightening Heather would go out and stay and watch the Thunder and Lightening, so after two days Heather went to come back inside and she would do her normal thing because, on that day when she got struck by lightening she would act different but now she is finally acting normal! So anyways now she can predict the weather and the weather forecast men letter Heather tell the weather on TV and now she is really famous! There is more to the story but these are like the main two bits. 

But lets not get off track this week for synthesis work we had to make some Armor that would help us survive in thunder and lightening, we also so had to add labels so here is my Armor:

Dung Beetles W6 Reading Work

This week we didn't have any passage to read and so the whole class went into this site called why isn't the world covered in poo? That made me question. So we had to look at all the different facts and we also had to look at some videos as well. After we had to make a DLO about 8 tasks and those tasks were, Remembering, Understanding, Understanding 2, Understanding 3, Applying, Applying 2, Analysing and Creating. So we had to put all of those tasks on one DLO but Mrs Lee told us to only post 3 of the tasks. We also had to do was at the start write down what we already knew about dung beetles!

Something I enjoyed was making something new from the creating part!
Something I found difficult was trying to understand the purpose of the texts that we had to read.

The three tasks I choose was Applying, Creating and Applying 2.

What we had to do for Applying was to make a comic strip or an animation about a Dung Beetles life, or like what their daily life is so here is mine: (I decided to do an animation)

The second task I did was Creating and what we had to do was to upgrade a dung beetle so what we had to is like make our own impressive dung beetle and we also had to add labels so here is my new dung beetle:

The last task I did was Applying 2, and what we had to do was write or draw what we now knew about dung beetles after we read the passages and videos, I decided to write about three different dung beetles so here it is: 

Maybe next week could be another whole class thing again!

The three Identical Musketeers

This week for writing we got to write about anything we wanted but firs we looked at Narrative writing, Narrative writing is when you get to write whatever you want but you need to include some things like language features, Characters, as problem + solution, paragraphs and Character Development. Language features is like Simile, Onomatopoeia and Hyperbole and all those ones. Characters is obviously the Main people, the problem + solution is when there is a problem then you have to try a solve it. And then lastly Character Development and that is when you describe you Character like through out the story so like not straight away. So then after we discussed all of that we got to start our writing and I decided to write about these three triplets who get bullied and then they've had enough of all the bullienes so they release something inside them then go to a new school called sky high!

(Oh and my story has a crises bit in it so I'm just gonna quickly tell you guys what a crises is, a crises is when like your problem gets worser and worser.)

And I'm not going to tell you anymore about it so you got to read my story so here it is:

The Three Identical Musketeers.


“Hurry up girls, we’re getting late!” Their Mum said. 
“Okay hold on we’re still packing our bags!” they said. 
“Come on the bus is going to be here soon”. 
“Ok Mum”. 
So the bus was off to go to Lacy’s, Kacy’s and Macy’s new high school. So here is a little story about how they needed to go to a new school, it all started when they used to live in a historic house at 12 Rex Street Avenue and there was a school close to their house and that the school was called Jehnson School, that’s the school the that Lacy, Kacy and Macy used to go to, but now it’s time for the real story....


So the first day they went to Jehnson School they thought they fitted in perfect perfectly and they thought that because they were only 5 years old when they first started, but while they were giving process progress in that school, a few years later when the three Identical Triplets were year 6’s they started getting bullied from these girls called Charlotte, Joryden and Ellie. They were getting bullied because they had like different colored eyes and they looked different to others and everyone would say they look terrible! 


But it doesn’t matter if you look different. Those were the three main bullies in the school, but then one day the three bullies told the whole school to gossip about Lacy, Kacy and Macy, but and those the triplets didn’t know what the school was up to. The teachers and the principal of there school didn’t even know what the other students were up to as well. But whatever the school was planning on was something really bad….


The School was planning on bullying those three girls and they did that just because they’re different, but they didn’t know that there was something special inside Lacy, Kacy and Macy. But they just kept on bullying them every single day, every time the Triplets came home they would cry in tears looking like a Monster with hair everywhere them! They were getting bullied each day, the triplets were tempted to leave the school by the students but the triplets didn’t want to cause they actually started to like the school a bit more so they didn’t want to leave. 


But the school wouldn’t stop, until they were year 8’s. And on that last day the triplets couldn’t take it anymore they used something that was inside bursting to come out, but they had to wait till it was the perfect time to use it, so the triplets waited and waited until their special elemental dragons inside them ame our bursting like they didn’t want to be inside them anymore, Lacy’s elemental Dragon was a Blue Dragon for ice, Kacy’s dragon was red for fire and Macy’s dragon was green for Nature. So on that last day their hearts were pumping and thumping, and then the next minute the triplets used their elemental Dragons and powers on all the students but then a few seconds later the three triplets suddenly disappeared everyone wondered where they were and they were terrified of what the Triplets had just did, but they were also really amazed, the Students didn’t really care but everyone else was suspicious of who the triplets might be?....


So that’s how they transferred here into their new high school called, Sky high and it’s a high school for people who have powers just like Lacy, Kacy and Macy! The triplets didn’t know how to fit in, in their new high school cause everyone had different powers that they didn’t even know about. But everyone was different and unique just like Lacy, Kacy and Macy. Everybody was saying “Who are they, do they even belong here”.
The triplets would reply “I don’t know if we even do, this school looks different and I can’t believe this school is on a cloud”!


“Girls wake up, it’s the first day of high school, hurry up”!
“Ughhh it’s so early though (yawns)” They exclaimed.
“I baked pancakes”
“Alright guys we have to get up Mum cooked Pancakes”! Macy shouted.
“Fine, but the first one to get ready gets 4 pancakes”! Kacy said in an excited voice.
“Okay 3, 2, 1 GO!”
So they all started fixing their beds, getting dressed and doing the stuff they usually do in the morning. And the first one there was…. All of them, it was a tie. Well of course it would be a tie I mean, their triplets. So Lacy, Kacy and Macy ate their 4 pancakes and then suddenly they saw something in the distance it was the school bus! They grabbed their shoes and they quickly putted them on and then said a nice goodbye to their Mum. Once they gotted on the bus they sat quickly together cause they didn’t know anyone from Sky high.


Then the bus was off, a few minutes later they were on a bridge and then suddenly there was no more road at the end so then the bus just flew down, but then suddenly the bus had wings so it could fly! The triplets had no idea where they were going so they just stayed still and quiet. Suddenly a few seconds later something from the top of their head came down, it was a life saver jacket and they needed that cause the bus was flying to sky high and that’s when the triplets figured out maybe their new high school is in the sky and maybe that’s why it’s called sky high because it’s high up in the sky! “Oh wow, that’s amazing everyone their must be like us and we won’t get bullied.” Macy Shouted.
“Hopefully” Kacy said is a sad voice.
“I’m so excited to start our new life here” Lacy exclaimed.
“It would be so cool if we could make some new friends here”! Kacy said in an excited voice.


So then the bus was going higher and higher until they finally reached their destination…. “Woo hoo, Sky High”! Everyone shouted like they came to their dream country. Everyone got off the bus and they were standing on a cloud! The triplets were like so amazed and really excited, this made their whole life even better. Then throughout their high school year they started making progress in their work and they made new friends, that’s how they became great people on earth!


The Moral of this story is if someone is bullying you don’t let them in your way, stand up for yourself, and if you see someone else getting bullied stand up for them as well!

Something I found difficult was trying to think of what to right cause I really wanted it to be interesting.

Something I enjoyed was writing it cause while I was writing it I found it really fun and interesting!

Turbo lends an ear W5 Sythesis

This week we read another non-fiction story and I was quite surprised of what it looked like on the first page because it had a picture of a dog and it made me think like will it be similar like last's week because last week we read a non-fiction Article about a dog so I don't know it could be or it could just be a picture of someone's dog. But then while I was starting to read it the Article a bit more it was actually about a dog who's name was Turbo and he lives with a family called the Simchowitz family and everyone in the family is deaf except Ryan who is the son his hearing is impaired so like he can hear a little bit but mostly not. Turbo is a border terrier dog and he is trained to be a hearing dog so like for example if someone knocks on the door Turbo can like tap on one of his owners and like point to the door or go to the door.

So this week we had another synthesis work we had to do and that synthesis work was to create a new or different animal that could help someone with a disability. And the disability that I picked was a person who can't walk. And I decided to make a new animal and I mixed a bear and Koala together to make a Boala! Here is my drawing of a boala:

If you can't read the writing it says: This animal is called Boala! And I decided to mix bear and Koala cause I searched up some facts about bears and koalas, and it says that bears sleep in winter but they wake up fast and easily, and koalas are slow so it can teach the person who can't walk can teach easier. The disability the Boala can help with is with people who can't walk!

Something I found difficult was to try and think of an animal that could help someone.

Something I enjoyed was drawing the Boala cause I didn't know what it would turn out as.

Princess Jasmine Writing

For Writing in Room 5 this term we have been learning about descriptive writing and so before we start any writing this term each day when we do writing we do something called a quick 10 and that is when Mrs Lee (Our Teacher) Puts a picture on our TV  and then we have to come up with 10 describing words about it, and we did this two weeks ago and we're posting it now so yeah I don't know what's going on in Mrs Lee's mind? But anyways two weeks ago Mrs Lee gave us a writing template of a burger and it had the top bun as the introduction, the pieces of food inside were different categories of like what we wanted to talking about so like 3 paragraphs of different writing, and then the last bun was the conclusion.

So what we had to do is find a buddie and my buddie was Mya then you had to choose a character from a movie or a book but like someone who is like not from the class room. Me and Mya chose Princess Jasmine from the movie Aladdin. After that we wrote our whole descriptive writing about Jasmine on a google doc so here is our descriptive writing about the wonderful Princess Jasmine:

Princess Jasmine is a very fearless person. She has always been so confident about never giving up. She will always keep trying till she succeeds, Princess Jasmine always knows what is best for her and others. Princess Jasmine is as Brave as a whole Army of Soldiers.

She has a creative personality. She is a caring person to everyone she loves and to people she might not even know. She’s such an adventurous person, and she is very proud even though she might mess up on something. She is so confident in everything she does and she doesn’t let anything get in her way. She encourages other people to stand up for themselves and do what is right to protect their land and family! If Princess Jasmine was not alive then her land would probably explode!

Princess Jasmine is a wonderful person with wonderful brown eyes and her brown eyes make her unique. She has beautiful black hair. She wears a shiny gorgeous blue and gold necklace with a special heart on her necklace.

Sometimes Princess Jasmine can have some problems in her life even though it looks like she can handle everything. She has a problem that her Dad wont let her rule Agrabah. She can only rule Agrabah if she marries someone. Another one of her problems is a bad one. She had to kiss a man called Jafar like Mwah! To distract him from trying to hurt Aladdin. She really does anything to protect someone or something.

Princess Jasmine is a very brave and confident person because she never gives up and she always does her best. She loves to adventure, because she always likes to do stuff to help out even though it’s hard for her. Jasmine is very outgoing and fearless because she never is scared of anything and she’s always hyped and happy to do something. She would do anything to save her Family and Agrabah. The victory for her is in the bag.

If your wondering about what the high lighted sentences well what we had to do is you know how I posted those pictures and we had to write like 4 of those descriptive words in each picture well what we had to do was pick 4 of those different descriptive words and put them in our story so me and my buddie picked, Hyperbole, Onomatopoeia, Simile and Metaphor. Sniffer Dog W4 Sythesis Drawing

I really wished this week's story would be a fiction story but sadly it's non-fiction but it's okay at least I get to learn some more interesting facts! This week for Danny our story was called sniffer Dog and it's about a Dog called Isaak and he works at a Airport and what his job is to sniff everybodys suitcases and see if there is some thing that they can't have in their suitcases. Like for example eggs cause like they might crack on the place then when you open your suitcase egg yoke is everywhere! So yeah this Dog Isaak is a Sniffer Dog.

Something I found difficult was trying to think of a Machine that could help Isaak cause like it was hard to find out what I should do.

Something I found fun was like reading the story cause I found it really interesting!

So this week we had to do another Synthesis drawing and we had to make a machine that could help the dog Isaak with his job so here is my one:

Descriptive Writing Slideshow

This week for writing we have been learning about descriptive writing, and Mrs Lee showed us eight words and they were, Hyperbole, Onamatipaia, Simile, Personification, Alliteration, Idiom, Repetition, Metaphor. My favorite one would probably be the Hyperbole because like its when yo say something but it's just like an expression for example: my head is about explode! So Mrs Lee told us to make a copy of a slideshow and then write one descriptive sentence about one picture. Then the next day we had to use 4 of the descriptive words at the top for another picture and then after we did that we could write another 4 for another 2 pictures.

The Fantastico Printmaking

This term for Term 4! And for Integrated Learning we have been learning about what our Taonga is, and I know I already told you guys about what a Taonga is and I posted 2 blog posts about it so this is going to be my third post about our Taonga. This blog post is about my Culture flowers. So I'm going to tell you guys the step by step process of making my Filipino Flower.

The first thing my class had to do was to find a picture of our Cultures Like National Flower, then we had to get an A4 piece of paper and then fold it into quarters, and do 4 drawings on our National flower, after we had to choose which was was our favorite and then get like a cardboard piece of paper and trace the one that you liked on to the cardboard piece of paper. The next thing we had to do after we traced it we had to get another cardboard piece of paper and then the one that we traced we had to put it on top of the other piece of paper then get a pen or pencil and use it to press really hard on the traced paper so then the paper on the bottom will have an outline of it. But we had to first do it on the main bits the to the detail bits like the lines on the leaf. So then we had to cut out the different bits the clue them on a squared piece of cardboard. Then we got tooken to a dying table so we could use some rollers to put some dye on to the cardboard and this is how my turned out:

Then what we had to do next was we had to get a piece of paper to practice pressing it down so here is my practice bits:

Something I found difficult was drawing it cause I wanted to make my culture happy and I wanted it to be perfect, something I enjoyed was rolling it because it was cool to see how it looked like if the colors would mix and how it would turn out as!

Dirty Dishes. W3 Synthesis Drawing

Finally we are reading a fiction story! This weeks story is called Dirty Dishes. It's about a boy called Peter and he hates doing the dishes, and so he got a new dish washer, usually his Mum does the dishes but his Mum was going to be back home not soon enough so Peter had to do it, and his Dad was doing some other jobs so his Dad could not do it either. 

And I mean he should be dong some chores in the house but not this chore! Everyone else in the family didn't have a problem with the new dishwasher but Peter did. Every time he used it something would go wrong, like too much maybe water or soap into the dishwasher or like maybe Peter did something wrong.

So what we had to do instead of making a Story Map we had to choose one of the Synthesis questions and I chose the one that said that one of the things in my kitchen are not working properly and so I have to explain or draw how a thing in my kitchen is not working so I decided to draw and write, and I chose my Refrigerator.

Something I enjoyed was drawing this and like imagining if this would actually really happen!
Something I found difficult was trying to thing on how the refrigerator would refuse on cooling the food down.

My Culture and Traditions

For Intergrated Learning this Term we are Learning about our Taonga and I think I already explained to you what a Taonga is but here is a little re-cap of what a Taonga is: Taonga means that you lie have something that is really special to you or like something that feels like treasure to you. So if you didn't see my other Intergrated Learning post that is what Taonga is. But anyways for this week we had to think about what Culture and Tradition means to us. So Mrs Lee our Teacher gave us two post it notes to write what Culture means to us on one note and then what Tradition means to us on the other note. After that we sticked our post it notes to two different pieces of Card board, one for what culture means and the other for what tradition means! 

After that we had to answer 5 different questions and we had to answer those 5 different questions on a DLO so here is my one:

Vanilla Ice cream, Please! W2 Information Web

It's the second week for term 4! And for reading this week my group Danny is reading a story called Vanilla Ice cream, Please! And it's another non-fiction book and I thought it would be a fiction story this week because last week was a non-fiction story but at least I get to learn some interesting facts.

This Information story was about a girl called Veisinia and she lives in Vaini on a Island called 
Tongatapu. She really likes Vanilla Ice cream! She has always been thinking about where that vanilla comes from, so she went to a place called a vanilla plantation and there is where they make the vanilla Ice cream and like the flavor.

She also got to help with the process of making a vanilla Ice cream, which I think would have been have been really awesome. She like did a lot of cool things and I didn't even know that some of the things would even be there or like would be an Ingredients. Now I really want to know how to make Vanilla Ice cream, just like Veisinia!

So she saw all the things you had to do, to make a Vanilla Ice cream! I think that you would like to know some more about how to make vanilla ice cream! For our information web we had to write some facts from the story so here is mine:

Celebration of learning!

WALT share what we have explored with our Whanau.

We're going back to Term 3! I don't know if I told you guys about this but in Term 3 like close to the end of Term 3. It was Celebration of Learning. On that day the three senior classes, Room 4, 5, and 6 decided to do like something to celebrate our Learning. I don't know what the other classes did but Room 5 was making different experiences. But first before we did all of that stuff, Mrs Lee told us to go and look some stuff out about experiences, after we did at we were learning about Acids and Bases, and Mrs Lee was teaching us this to help with our Experiments. Then we tried out Mixing a type of base with some acid but it was like really acid that could like burn you it was just like Red Cabbage. It was really cool because like the colors changed but it kinda smelt really weird.

The next day after that we tried other experiments, like one that makes like a balloon really big, one that makes a rocket with just a plastic water bottle and one that is like a volcano. Mrs Lee told us to get into groups of three or four and my teammates were Zipporah and Jorja. Then we had to discuss with our group on which experiment we wanted to do.  But first we had to try our experiment. My group decided to do the balloon one. In our Topic books we had to write what we would want to change or like what we would not change. We also had to write who brings what to do the experiment, then we had to make a poster to write like the steps, Rules, what you need and we also had to write the hypothesis and the observations.

If you want to try out this experiment here are the steps to making this balloon experiment: 1. Half fill your bottle with vinegar. 2. Add a few drops of any color food coloring. 3. Use a funnel to put in half a cup of baking soda into the balloon. 4. Put the mouth of the balloon into the mouth of the bottle. 5. Shake the baking soda into the vinegar. Wait for it to blow. 7. Stand back!

Here are the different things you will need: Vinegar, Water Bottle, Baking soda, Balloons,Food Coloring, Spoons and a Funnel.
Those are the steps, and things you will need if you want to try out this experiment!

But anyways, while we were trying out our experiments, Mrs Lee took some photos of us trying it out so here are some photos:

The thing that I enjoyed was trying the experiment with my group members and like actually finding out what we changed worked or made it worse and I thing it actually made it better cause it didn't pop or anything like that.

Something that I found difficult was trying to make the balloon a little bit more bigger so then it will look really cool and like you can have a free balloon and you don't need to blow it rally big with your mouth!

My group decided to just put all the information straight on to the poster because we thought that it would be more quicker even though the other groups decided to put there ones on a slideshow first before the poster but I think everyone did a great job!

My Taonga

WALT define and identify our own "Taonga".
In term 4, for Integrated Learning, my class has been talking about what a Taonga is. Taonga is a Maori word that means like something is your Treasure and like someone or something that is prized to you and something that like means a lot to you.

In term 3, in the last few days we would go to a Life education van and there was a girl called Amanda and she talked about having a strong core and having a big flex. And that means to have nobody make fun of your core and your core is like your "Taonga" and that is what makes you have a big flex!

Mrs Lee showed us some pictures that could be our Taonga, so we had to think what was really important to us and what is like Treasure to us. After we thought about what our "Taonga" was we had to make a poster about who or what is our "Taonga".

We could make it a digital poster or hand written poster so like on paper. I decided to make my poster on paper cause I though that it would be good to show what my "Taonga" is if I written it with like my hand and show that it's from the heart!

Instead of writing our "Taonga" we had to draw what our "Taonga" was.

One of my Taongas was my family because like my family means a lot to me because they help me with everything I do they make me food. They all also help me have a good life, they make me healthy and last but not least they love me!

My second Taonga is is a pink blanket because I have had that since I was born and that blanket I sleep with every night and I can't sleep without it, and even though it might be a pale pink blanket now I still love it.

My last Taonga is my country and that is the Philippines so I just decided to draw the flag but I love my country and if someone makes fun of my country I will get really mad and probably smash you but I'm not mean so I'll probably just tell you to back off my country!
